Dimapur, May 3 (MExN): Assam Rifles carried out a series of civic and humanitarian initiatives across Nagaland and adjoining areas, including a yoga session for students, emergency blood donation, an educational lecture, and facilitation of students appearing for a national-level examination.
As part of the run-up to the International Day of Yoga 2026 under the government’s ‘Yoga 365’ initiative, Assam Rifles organised a yoga session for students of Wangto Primary School at COB Chenloisho.
A total of 46 students participated in the session, which focused on introducing yoga at an early age and highlighting its physical and mental health benefits. The session included basic yoga postures and breathing exercises, encouraging students to adopt a healthy and disciplined lifestyle. The initiative also aimed at strengthening ties between the armed forces and the local community.
In a separate humanitarian effort, Assam Rifles personnel donated blood at District Hospital Kiphire in response to an urgent request for a critically ill patient requiring immediate transfusion.
Four personnel volunteered and donated four units of blood, ensuring timely medical care. Their prompt response helped stabilise the patient’s condition and prevent further complications. The gesture was appreciated by hospital authorities and the patient’s family, reinforcing trust and civil-military relations.
Meanwhile, Assam Rifles conducted an awareness lecture on “Operation Sindoor” at Assam Rifles Public School, Naginimora, in Assam on April 29.
The programme, attended by over 90 students and teachers, highlighted the historical significance and national impact of the operation. The Company Commander interacted with the participants, emphasising the role of security forces in maintaining peace and promoting national integration.
