Kohima, December 9 (MExN): In a joint operation with Kakching Police, the Assam Rifles has seized drugs worth Rs 57 Lakhs in Pallel, Kakching on December 7.
The drugs were seized a Mobile Vehicle Checkpost along NH-102 road from Pallel to Kakching was established by the two security agencies based on specific information, a press release from Lt Col Sumit SharmaPRO (Defence), Kohima informed.
An auto rickshaw was intercepted during the process and 11 soap cases containing 142.67 grams of heroin worth Rs 57 lakh were recovered from the hand bag of a woman passenger, it said.
She was also part of ongoing Nasha Bandi campaign in Chandel and was covertly undertaking such illicit activities of drug smuggling in Chandel, it added.
She was handed over to Kakching Police Station along with the seized drugs for further investigation, the release added.
