AASA officials along with the winners of the39th GB’s Football Trophy held at Nihokhu village on January 15.
Nihokhu, January 15 (MExN): The Ato Area Sports Association (AASA) concluded its 39th GB’s Football Trophy, 36th Lt Nikhekhu and Lt Yihoto Memorial Volleyball Tournament (men and women), and the 11th Lt Shekuto Suu Memorial Badminton Tournament (men and women) at Nihokhu village, Niuland on January 15.
The tournaments, which began on January 12, were organised across multiple disciplines and witnessed participation from several villages in the area.
Er Ahoto Zhimomi attended the concluding programme as the chief guest, while Dr Anitoli Suu, Chief Medical Officer (CMO), Zunheboto, was the guest of honour.
In football, Hozukhe village emerged as champions, while Ghokuto village finished as first runners-up. Hinoto of the Hozukhe team was adjudged Player of the Tournament. Holloto of the Toshiho team and Toka of the Hozukhe team scored hat-tricks during the tournament, with Toka also finishing as the highest goal scorer. The Best Defender award went to Hino of the Ghokuto team, while Ghokivi of the Nikhekhu team was named Best Goalkeeper.
In the men’s volleyball category, Hozukhe village clinched the championship title, with Sukhato village finishing as runners-up. Aghapu of the Hozukhe team was adjudged Best Spiker.
In women’s volleyball, Hozukhe village again secured the championship, while Sukhato village were runners-up. Alokali Zhimomi of the Hozukhe team was named Best Player.
In badminton (men), Nihokhu village won the championship title, defeating Sukhato village, which finished as runners-up. Kihika Aqomi of the Sukhato team received the Best Player award.
In badminton (women), Hozukhe village emerged as champions, while Toshiho village finished as runners-up.
The association stated that the annual sports event aims to promote sportsmanship, unity and healthy competition among youth in the region.
