Dimapur, Nov 1 (MExN): While attempting to rescue a nurse on whom a group of six was threatening to rape, Vikaho Achumi, her cousin was shot at in the mouth. Presently at the Civil Hospital, Dimapur his condition has been stated to be out of danger. Vitoi Swu, the Judicial Secretary of the Western Sumi Hoho and who is the uncle of the victim informed that six persons had attempted to rape his niece.
When Vikaho tried to intervene, he was shot at, according to him. In this connection, Police managed to apprehend three of the accused after they were given a sound thrashing by the public. The incident occurred at Grace Colony, near Railway Bazaar, Dimapur. The three who were arrested have been named as Santim Yanger, Susu Ao and Moatoshi. In the late hours of the night, Police, after picking up one of the accused from the hospital for identification of the other perpetrators, were on their way to apprehend the others.
The main accused was yet to be caught at the time of filing this report. The nurse had to say that the incident occurred when she had ventured out to deliver an injection to her aunty who stays near her place.
“I had gone to administer an injection to my aunt who stays just near my place. After having discovered that I had taken a syringe of the wrong size, I was heading back to rectify my mistake when the incident occurred.” She said one the offenders first grabbed at her chest and then boldly asserted that they would rape her. This was when Vikaho had come to her aid.
