Kohima, August 1 (MExN): Employees’ State Insurance Corporation (ESIC), North Eastern Region (NER), Regional Office Guwahati organized awareness Programme on ESIC benefits of employees and how to register under ESIC by employer employing 10 or more employees at District Headquarters, Senapati on July 31.
A press release from ESI Corporation, Regional office, Guwahati stated that in a recent gazette, the Ministry of Labour and Employment, Government of India has extended the ESI Scheme in all the areas of Bishnupur, Senapati, Ukhrul, Kangpokpi, Churachanpur and Thoubal districts in the State of Manipur from August 1.
The awareness programme was conducted by SSamuel Nelson, Assistant Director, Regional Office Guwahati and Dr Pairson PM (IMP Senapati).
It said it focused on guiding the employer about the process of registering online of eligible employees i.e. those drawing salary upto Rs 21000 through the website ‘www.esic.in’ and also through Shram Suvidha Portal website ‘shramsuvidha.gov.in’ and how eligible registered employees/insured person (IP) can avail the benefits provided in the ESI Act, 1948 (as amended).
The program highlighted various benefits like Sickness Benefit (Cash) for 91 days, Extended Sickness Benefit (Cash) for 730 days upto 02 years, Medical Benefit, Funeral Expenses of Rs 15000, Temporary/Permanent Employment Injury/Disablement Benefit, Dependants’ Benefit in the form of pension for dependants on death of insured person (IP) during employment, Maternity Benefit (Cash) for 182 days, Unemployment Allowance under ‘Rajiv Gandhi Shramik Kalyan Yojana (RGSKY)’ which is unemployment monthly cash allowance for a duration of maximum 24 months in case he/she becomes unemployed involuntarily due to retrenchment as defined under the Industrial Disputes Act, 1947, Closure of the factory/ establishment as defined under the Industrial Disputes Act, 1947 and permanent invalidity of not less than 40% arising out of non-employment injury, Medical Treatment benefit on retirement by paying Rs 120 every year, medical treatment benefit for permanent disablement (PDB) on payment of Rs 120 every year, Access to Medical Studies (MBBS program, etc) for IP children were highlighted.
