Kohima, October 10 (MExN): An Awareness Programme on PM- National Apprenticeship Promotion Scheme (PM-NAPS) and Registration drive for establishment on Apprenticeship portal was held at Phek town on October 9 last.
The PM-NAPS is an Indian government initiative, launched in 2016, that promotes apprenticeships by providing financial incentives and support to both employers and apprentices to bridge the gap between education and employment.
Key objectives include financially assisting establishments for training, providing partial stipend support to apprentices, promoting skill development, and increasing the employability of youth in various sectors through hands-on training under the Apprentices Act, 1961.
Addressing the gathering, Phek Additional Deputy Commissioner Thejakhrienuo Nisa, encouraged the students to concentrate their efforts in both classroom/textbook studies and skill development for their future prospects.
She also appreciated the department of Employment of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship of Nagaland for initiating an awareness programme, targeting the youths and students who are the most promising citizens to represent the future.
Pravin Yadav, State Coordinator, NSDC highlighted the background of PM-NAPS Portal, followed by interactive session. Kulo Kezo, District Employment Officer, Phek delivered welcome address. Kikhruvinuo Suohumvu and Roseline Pojor assisted as moderators.
The programme was chaired by E. H. Alongse, Joint Director, DoESDE while vote of thanks was proposed by Kezhaleo Medom, Officer-in- charge of Govt ITI Phek.
