Chümoukedima, December 16 (MExN): The Chümoukedima Town Council (CTC) has announced a ban on both firecrackers and Single-Use Plastics across the town’s jurisdiction.
CTC Chairman Lhousito Khro, in a press release, stated the decision stems from an understanding of the potential risks from firecrackers and an effort to mitigate adverse effects on the environment, air quality and public health. The ban aims to minimize garbage generation and create a pollution-free town, Khro said.
To ensure compliance, there will be regular checking and patrols, and violators of this ban will be subject to fines and penalties. All the residents have been encouraged to celebrate in a safe and eco- friendly manner by exploring alternative ways to mark the occasion such as lighting lamps, participating in cultural events, or spending quality time with loved ones.
The council has directed all Ward GBs and Chairmen to disseminate the information widely and ensure public involvement in their respective areas. The directive calls for strict enforcement to make Chümoukedima a Single-Use Plastic and pollution-free zone. The council has requested strict compliance from all concerned to make the campaign a success.
