Dimapur, September 1 (MExN): The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Nagaland State Unit today issued a press note on the demand for a separate statehood. The note said that the cabinet’s minister team of the Eastern Nagaland had met the chief minister on July 21 and according to local dailies “there is some pressure for internal arrangement, might possibly suggest going for immediate recommendation for creation of an autonomous council as good gesture to the Eastern people. After sitting with the chief minster immediately declared the cabinet’s collective decision and had recommended the matter to the Centre.”
BJP Nagaland unit vice-president K. Medom Angami in the press note opined that by creating a state or an autonomous council, the state government can recommend any time after thoroughly studying the pros and cons. It felt that the larger question is whether the government ever tried to understand the problems from the depth and stated that the standoff, (DAN-2 vs ENPO body) is a creation of NPF led government. In fact, DAN-2 government is shying away from its miss ventures and trying to escape away from their responsibilities, what the DAN government had done was completely demeaning and contradictory to real demand. It was a blunder the cabinets has not only underestimated the opposition legislature (MLAs) who are representing the constituency from the ENPO area, particularly four districts. Also the government decisions was a shortsighted decision completely ignoring the ENPO demanding for the government would have accommodate the local leader of Eastern region and try to ascertain about their likes and dislikes then a question of ridged standoff could be averted. NPF Government is unnecessarily poking; decision is with the people either to accept or reject the proposal.
The note also stated that transparency and for public satisfaction, government should invite public opinion poll with a specific time frame on a separate statehood. A debate of all sections beginning from villages to village, the ENPO apex body, ENSF body, tribal leaders, other civil society including the church leaders and the higher-level bureaucrats, the technocrats and the intellectuals from all the section of eastern Nagaland should be call for a healthy open discussion to erase doubts and the differences.
“Coming to the point, the cabinet ministers and the legislatures of eastern region have not come out with any substantiate statement or say a word on the statehood demand even after the state cabinets collectively has met the UPA government at the centre recently. The cabinet’s minister of eastern Nagaland should clear their stand and say something because they are the right person to explain the worrying issue to its people, if there is no hidden secret agreement between the government and the legislatures of the four districts,” the note further added
The BJP Nagaland will extend support on common people interest and urged the NPF –led government to solve the problem without affecting the state congenial atmosphere. The party also urged the public the public that there is certain limitation to play in every aspect in reforming a resurgence society but common men have no right to encroach or snatch the legislature’ power and its legislate obligations the legislatures law which contain a set of law binding to all.
Moreover BJP simply to say play politic but don’t crack joke on sensitive issue, otherwise very soon a situation like “Anna revolution” may turn up in Nagaland of the governments cant refrain from dirty cracking with the people sentiment for undue electoral politic profits bargain.
