After nearly a week of extensive search operations, the body of the 26years old youth who drowned at Doyang Dam on April 11 was recovered today April 17.
According to sources, the body was spotted at around 5:40 AM in the main reservoir of Doyang by a fisherman who had gone to check his fish nets.
Personnel of the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), who were on routine duty in the area, were alerted immediately and assisted in identifying and retrieving the body from the water.
Officials informed that the recovery was carried out jointly by SDRF personnel and the police, following which the body was brought ashore. Authorities are currently observing all necessary legal formalities, including inquest procedures, before handing over the body to the bereaved family members.
The youth had reportedly drowned on April 11 at the Doyang Dam, prompting a search operation involving SDRF teams, NDRF Team, NSDMA, Police personnel’s and the local community. The operation had continued over the past several days under challenging conditions, including poor underwater visibility and the depth of the reservoir.
With the recovery of the body, the search operation has been officially concluded.
