Zhavame Village in Nagaland’s Phek district and Paodukhumai Clan of Tungjoy village in Manipur's Senapati district have signed a Boundary Agreement, amicably resolving a decades-old land dispute.

Kohima, October 22 (MExN): In a landmark move, Zhavame Village in Nagaland’s Phek district and the Paodukhumai Clan of Tungjoy village in Manipur's Senapati district have signed a Boundary Agreement, amicably resolving a decades-old land dispute.
The agreement was signed on October 14, 2025 by a Joint Goodwill Mission formed by both parties, which stated the accord was reached “in the spirit of brotherhood and Christianity.”
The dispute, which had caused tensions and insecurity for years, was addressed after the Joint Goodwill Mission was formed in a meeting on August 22, 2022.
“This comes in the wake of a long-standing traditional land dispute spanning several decades resulting in tensions and insecurities for both the concerned parties for many years,” the Joint Goodwill Mission stated in a press release.
However, recognising the need to settle the dispute once and for all, in the spirit of brotherhood and Christianity, the Joint Goodwill Mission representing both the villages was formed in a meeting held on August 22 in 2022 at P.K.Shedu Resort in Senapati, it stated.
The release stated that “after a series of meetings, both the Parties realized the futility of prolonging the dispute, and mutually agreed to demarcate the boundary above the NH- 102 (A) that runs as: Starting from the point where the RCC pillar has been erected, moving upward in a straight line to the low-narrow area of the hill top range as shown by the RCC pillars from point to point; and thence, moving upward along the range in a straight line towards the pointed Rock, also known as Thrulü Müzho Jo'; and from there again, moving upward in a straight line till it reaches the common boundary Stone of Paodukhumai Clan, Tungjoy Veimai Clan and Zhavame Village located below the hill top.”
“This official boundary demarcation undertaken with respect and understanding by both the Parties shall be final and binding for all the generations to come,” it added.
The signatory included Zao-o Krocha, Village Council Chairman, Zhavame and Sanyi Rhi, Secreatry of Zhavame, and Ahrai Shelley, Chairman, Paodukhumai Clan and Daikho Tho, Secretary, Paodukhumai Clan. The Joint Goodwill Mission is headed by D Mosonyi Domeh as Convenor, PH John as Co-convenor, and Tho-o Shupao and PS Shelavei as secretaries. The members are Pazü Paul Dukru, Vivotso Domeh, Khanyi Pohena, T Siba Domeh, Tsukha Movi, L. Lucas Dukru, PT Daniel, PS Thekho, PL Dani, Dani Tho, P.S Seva, P K Shou.
