Kohima, October 11 (MExN): The NSS special camp of Capital College of Higher Education, Kohima was held at Kisama Heritage village and Phesama under the theme “Youth for change.”
The camp, concluded on October 7, was guided by Nuveta Khusoh, programme officer and lecturer.
Sanitation drive was carried out at Phesama village and Kisama Heritage village, where thousands of bottles and plastic wrappers were collected and disposed off by the campers. The campers expressed their views that visitors should have civic responsibility and maintain hygienic atmosphere and should not throw the waste indiscriminately. Besides sanitation drive, other important events were yoga practice, trekking, literary competition, group discussion, prayer meetings, recreation, entertainment, talent show etc.
Altogether, 25 volunteers along with some teaching faculty attended the said camp. Lavoto and Lingneikim were awarded as the best volunteers. Kenneth Punyü , State Laison Officer NNS Cell, was the resource person during the session. The main session was held at Phesama, the NSS adopted village. Speaking on the theme “Youth for change” Kenneth Punyü stressed on the role of the young people as agents of change in different spheres; socio-economic, environmental etc. The SLO also handed out two T-Shirts to the best volunteers.
