The Chakhesang Baptist Church Kohima (CBCK) today felicitated two officers—Neposo Theluo and Wezope Kenye, who were recently inducted into the prestigious Indian Administrative Service (IAS) from state Civil Service of Nagaland.
The two officers were appointed by the President of India along with five others from the state of Nagaland recently.
It may be mentioned that the two officers have become the first IAS among the Chakhesang community. In a Thanksgiving Sunday cum felicitation service for duo held at CBCK premises, CBCK senior pastor Rev. Dr. Kevekhalo Lasuh maintained that God has answered the prayers of the long felt desire of the Chakhesang tribe to have IAS amongst the community for the first time.
He challenged the Chakhesang community to take it as a good beginning to march into another milestone.
Chakhesang Baptist Church Ministers' Hill Kohima (CBCMHK) also felicitated the duo on the same day.
CBCMHK senior pastor Rev. Dr. Vevo Phesao said that an IAS officer among the community was a "long felt need" and their induction is a proof that God answered the prayers of the people.
He went on to add that many tears in prayer have gone down to see this day. Many shouted in prayer and fasted to see this. Their achievement, he said, was God signalling the Chakhesang as a tribe, to love and accommodate one another even more.
CBCMHK head deacon Rhücho Tureng while delivering word of gratitude, said that the church have been praying to God to grant IAS officers in the community. He encouraged them to continue to work for the welfare of the people in coming days.
Earlier, Nepose Thuluo said that as a person coming from humble background, “never in my dream had I imagined to become an IAS officer' someday.” He added that it all happened because of the love of God.
He re-affirmed his best to serve the people in the days to come.
Wezope Kenye also expressed gratitude to God for his achievement and added that God has been kind to him. Kenye subscribed that God will surely help those who have determination. “It is going to be stepping stone for us,” he said and appealed the people to continue to pray and support them.
Kenye also expressed hope that more youth in the community would be able to come out as IAS officers through direct recruitment in the future.
