Kohima | September 21 : The Central Executive Council (CEC) of Naga People’s Front today welcomed the meeting of the top underground leaders “which has resulted in the signing of the Naga Concordant under the banner of the FNR.” Resolving this in its meeting held here today, the CEC observed that “this is a significant and historic step taken by the underground leaders towards oneness and unity of the Naga society.”
While appreciating the efforts of the FNR, the CEC also urged upon all sections of the people both overground and underground to come forward and participate in the process of reconciliation to make the process of unity inclusive.
The CEC reiterated that the NPF led state government is sincere on its commitment to pave way for any alternative arrangement that may come about on the logical conclusion of the Indo-Naga political dialogue leading to an honorable solution that is acceptable to the people.  The CEC further urged upon the negotiating parties to expedite the peace process so that the long felt desire of the people for lasting peace is fulfilled at the earliest.
The CEC also extend its supports and stands by the four resolutions that have been unanimously adopted by the Nagaland Legislative Assembly in support of integration of all contiguous Naga areas which was also reiterated in the adopted resolutions of the Joint Legislators Forum on September 15, 2011.
The CEC also welcomed and support the state government’s recommendation, of its no objection on the formation of an autonomous council for the ENPO areas, to the Government of India. The CEC also appreciated the state government’s stand that the Government of India knows best what is good for the Nagas. The CEC urged upon the GoI to take early decision on this matter in order to avoid more problems to the state.
The CEC congratulated the NPF leadership on the successful launching of the Manipur unit of the party at Senapati on 28th May, 2011. “This significant step that was taken in view of the long felt desire of the people and that it is aimed at bringing Nagas together politically and emotionally as a people,” the CEC observed.
Further, the CEC welcomed the resolution adopted by Lok Sabha on the Lok Pal Bill on August 27, 2011.  The NPF while congratulating Anna Hazare and his team for their efforts assures that the party is committed to support any effort that will fight corruption and bring transparency in public life.
Earlier, NPF president Dr. Shürhozelie Liezietsu in his presidential address said “Of late, there has been some talk about settlement of the Naga political problem and the subsequent formation of a National Government in Nagaland. Our Party has been working ceaselessly towards achieving the goal for a political settlement. We are yet to know what exactly is the type of political settlement people talk about but we will welcome any type of political settlement which can bring about peace to our land.”
And when time comes, we will remain true to our commitment in paving the way for it, NPF chief said adding that towards this end, all the 60 legislators also have the same voice though “we play our own political roles in other fields.”
“This is a unique achievement of the 11th Nagaland Legislative Assembly. We, as a political party, will continue to appeal for inclusiveness of all UG groups in the ongoing endeavour for a settlement under the sponsorship of the Forum for Naga Reconciliation,” Dr. Liezietsu said.
He also stated that the NPF congratulated FNR for what they have achieved so far though there are more yet to be done to reach the final step.
Dr. Liezietsu said NPF want to maintain good relationship with all other political parties which are in existence though they may not have any member in the House at the moment.
“But I want to appeal to our people why should there be many political parties in the state,” he said adding that NPF has achieved stability under the dynamic leadership of Chief Minister and look forward with hope that NPF will continue to run the affairs of the state in days to come under any circumstances.
“We had bitter experiences in the past for instability. Without stability, there can be no development. As far a development is concerned, let the people talk about it whether we have really done something for them or not,” he said.
He cited example that the new secretariat area was only jungle except the Secretariat Complex when “ we took over in the year 2003.” One can easily judge the difference today when the whole new secretariat area is fully occupied with magnificent buildings, a testimony of stability and sincerity of the government,” said Dr. Liezietsu.
Further, he asserted that stability should be maintained “if we really want to change the face of Nagaland and for that small parties should apply their wisdom in favour of the common interest of the Naga people.”
Also addressing the meeting, Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio congratulated the present NPF team led by Dr. Shürhozelie and all rank and file for working tirelessly for the party and strengthening the government.
He also appealed to all the divisions to show their commitment and involvement down to the grassroots level.

Asking the party workers to rededicate themselves and continue to work for the service of the people, he said “We should not only count on our achievements but also analyze our failures and how to improve upon.”
