Chairmanship issue of Diphupar ‘B’ resolved

DIMAPUR, SEPTEMBER 28 (MExN): Brushing aside all the differences in the interest of the village, the Diphupar ‘B’ villagers have elected a new village council chairman, the post of which remained vacant for almost a year owing to some misunderstanding among the villagers.
As the new chairman, Kahuto N. Chishi was officially handed with files of the Diphupar ‘B’ Village Council in the presence of all the GBs representing all the tribes and villagers leaders and elders on Monday last.
The newly constituted village council comprising 34 members which includes 12 GBs held its first joint meeting with members of women and youth organization of the village and elders on Wednesday at the residence of new council chairman.
During the meeting members highlighted various points that need to be improved for the advancement of the village and the need to have transparency and better co-ordination in the functioning of the council.
Kahuto said the new council would take road development as its priority while also giving importance toward checking encroachment. Communitization of electricity in the village and to check illegal tapping of electricity is another burning desire of the council, he said.
