The Chakhesang Hoho Kohima (CHK) held its general session at RCEMPA, Jotsoma near Kohima on July 25.
Addressing the gathering, Z Lohe, former speaker, Nagaland Legislative Assembly urged upon the Chakhesang community to rise to the occasion and make a positive contribution to the society. He called upon the community frame a strategic planning to meet the various challenges ahead.
Lohe expressed his concern over “too much use of English” by speakers during local community event at the cost of the mother tongue. He called for promotion and preservation of local dialects to keep the Naga identity and culture intact.
Rothihu Tetseo, IPS, IGP (INT), PHQ, Govt of Nagaland delivered short speech. He called upon the community to actively participate in the ongoing census exercise. In his address, CHK president Dozohu Tunyi thanked each and every individual for their invaluable contribution towards the CHK building project.
CHK General Secretary Mutsivoyi Kotso and CHK finance secretary Lhuvesayi Lohe presented CHK building construction report and finance report respectively.
The session was chaired by CHK vice president Neizulo Therie while Rev. Dr. Thujoneyi Veswuh, Associate Pastor CBCMHK invoked God’s blessings. CHK legal secretary Vekhotso Swuro delivered welcome address. Folk tune was presented by Chakhesang Cultural Research Institute, Chetheba and Rose Vero.
Rev Dr Kevekhalo Lasuh, senior pastor CBCK prayed for installation of new office bearers while Rev. Khrotso Mero, advisor CBCK pronounced benediction. Chotisuh Sazo, former speaker NLA, Zachilhu Vadeo, former minister, Vezuhu Keyho, president Chakhesang Public Organization, Kevesa Khamo, president Chakhesang Youth Front and several other dignitaries were present at the session.
New teams Announced
Meanwhile, the CHK Nomination Committee convenor Theja Therieh has announced the new team of CHK and Chakhesang Youth Organization Kohima (CYOK) for the tenure 2026- 2029.
CHK: President- Dozhohu Tunyi, Vice President- Neizulo Therie, General Secretary- Mutsivoyi Kotso, Finance Secretary- Lhuvesayi Lohe, Treasurer- Avino Theyo, Press & Media Secretary- Kuzhovesa Soho, Legal Secretary- Vekhotso Swuro, Joint Secretary- Chipakhuyi Rhakho, Assistant Secretary- Neinguu Rabvo, Representative to CPO- Neilo Khape and Tsobahü Rhakho.
CYOK: President- Medotso Khape, General Secretary- Avizo Nienu, Press & Media Secretary- Zhoveto Puro and Treasurer-Sarhunyi Shupao.
The respective colony units of CHK shall nominate one Co-ordinator to the Executive Body of CYOK.
