CHC Chumukedima organizes health ‘mela’

CHUMUKEDIMA | SEPTEMBER 8 : Community Health Centre, Chumukedima, on Thursday organized a Health ‘mela’ to coincide with shifting of the CHC to the present site, adjacent to the upcoming 100-bedded government hospital.
Deputy chief medical officer, Dimapur, Dr. Ritu Thurr, in his address said that the state Medical department was focusing on three aspects of health – curative, preventive and promotion.
The deputy CMO also said that one of the primary focus of community health centres (CHCs) was on infant and maternal mortality and that every CHC provides maternity benefits to pregnant mothers under National Rural Health Mission’s (NRHM) Janani Suraksha Yojana (JSY).
Terming CHC Chumukedima as one of the best equipped health centres in terms of both manpower and equipment, Thurr further informed that the Health department along with NRHM is planning to organize a grand health mela in Chumukedima in the near future.
Chief advisor of Chumukedima Town Council, T Shuya, in his address said that there has been a great improvement after shifting of the CHC to the present site and urged the public of the area to make full use of the 24x7 health service provided by the centre.
Urging the citizens to repose their confidence in doctors and staff manning the PHC, Shuya said that many a times, government health centres have failed to deliver the desired results because of lack of confidence and non-cooperation from the public and villagers.
The CTC chief advisor further lauded the DAN government led by chief minister Neiphiu Rio for giving due concern to healthcare services in the state.
Medical officer and in-charge, PHC Chumukedima, Dr. Zaiwang proposed vote of thanks.
Besides Dr. Zaiwang and Dr. A Narola of PHC Chumukedima, other guest doctors including Dr. Wati (MMU), Dr. Caroline (Kuhuboto PHC) and Dr. Rwatho (of Police Referral Hospital), treated patients  at the health mela. Citizens and villagers from Chumukedima and surrounding villages attended the medical camp.
