Kiphire Congress demands urgent action

Kiphire, July 6 (MExN): The District Congress Committee, Youth Wing and Mahila, Kiphire has raised serious concern over the shortage of medical staff at the Community Health Centre (CHC) in Pungro, which is the sole primary healthcare facility serving the entire area.

In a press release issued by Kiphire DCC President K Tsalimong, the committee informed that a visit on July 6 to the CHC revealed that the facility is operating with a single doctor, who is burdened with managing out-patient services, emergency cases, inpatient care, maternal and Child healthcare, and other essential medical services for such a large population.

It stated that the severe shortage of doctors has caused immense hardship to the public and has adversely affected the delivery of quality healthcare. It has also posed a “serious risk to the well-being of the people.”

The Committee has earnestly requested the concerned department and authorities to immediately post adequate doctors at CHC Pungro to ensure that the people receive timely, efficient and quality healthcare services.
