Chizami Students’ Union backs CSU demand for timely completion of NH-29 Package-II
Kohima, October 3 (MExN): The Chizami Students’ Union has extended its solidarity and support to the Chakhesang Students’ Union (CSU) in its efforts to safeguard the welfare, rights and legitimate interests of the people, particularly concerning the prolonged challenges affecting NH-29 (Kohima-Jessami Road), Package-II.
In a statement, the Chizami Students’ Union said it had taken serious cognisance of the longstanding concerns raised by the CSU over the persistent delays and deteriorating condition of the highway.
It said the condition of the road had caused considerable inconvenience and hardship to the public, with wider social and economic implications.
The union said the Kohima-Jessami Highway serves as a vital lifeline for several districts by providing access to education, healthcare, markets, livelihoods, trade and other socioeconomic activities.
The continued deterioration and inadequate progress of the strategic road had severely constrained mobility and connectivity while placing an unreasonable burden on people dependent on the highway, it said.
The Chizami Students’ Union said it stood firmly with the CSU in its peaceful, lawful and democratic efforts to seek accountability, timely intervention and a definitive resolution to the concerns surrounding NH-29 Package-II.
It also extended support to legitimate, peaceful and constructive measures undertaken in the larger interest and welfare of the communities concerned.
The union appealed to the concerned authorities to give immediate consideration to the issues raised and undertake appropriate, coordinated and time-bound measures for the expeditious implementation and completion of NH-29 Package-II.
It expressed hope that the matter would receive the requisite attention from the authorities and that effective steps would be taken to address the difficulties faced by the public and ensure timely completion of the project.
The Chizami Students’ Union reaffirmed its solidarity with the Chakhesang Students’ Union and said it would continue to support the collective cause concerning the NH-29 Package-II.
