Community Mobilization for education stakeholders held Under DEO Tuensang

TUENSANG, MARCH 30 (MExN): The Department of School Education successfully conducted a block-level training and sensitization program for school heads and School Management Committees (SMCs) and School Management and Development Committees (SMDCs) under the community mobilization program. The second phase of the initiative, held from March 24 to 28, covered 23 EBRC blocks across 12 districts.

In Tuensang, the programme was conducted in the Longkhim, Hakushang, Noklak, and Shamator EBRC blocks, where 428 participants attended the sessions. Officials from the Directorate of School Education, Samagra Shiksha, and representatives from the Nagaland Education Project—The Lighthouse (NECTAR) led the training and sensitization efforts.

The sessions covered key interventions and programs under the Department of School Education, including an awareness training on the roles and responsibilities of SMCs and SMDCs. Deputy Director of DoSE, Avino Tase, highlighted government initiatives such as PM-Poshan, ULLAS, free textbooks and uniforms, science fairs, teacher and student merit awards. Dr. Bijano Murry Odyuo, JMD Samagra Shiksha, presented on NIPUN Bharat, the Automated Permanent Academic Account Registry (APAAR), mega parent-teacher meetings for enrollment drives, and tracking child learning progress through VSK. The discussions also covered PM-SHRI schools, vocational education, support for out-of-school children, and the role of community participation in school transformation.

Representatives from NECTAR—Rokosieno Yano, Kevithseno Secu, and Dominic—provided a comprehensive summary of key initiatives under the project.
