
KOHIMA, JANUARY 8 (MExN/NNN): The Naga Students’ Federation (NSF) has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of Chongtingla Shimray, wife of Ningkhan Anthony Shimray, a prominent figure in the Naga Army, who passed away on January 7.
In a statement of condolence, the NSF described Chongtingla Shimray’s life as a shining testament to unwavering commitment and sacrifice for the Naga national cause. As a devoted companion to Ningkhan Anthony Shimray, a stalwart of the Naga struggle, she stood as a pillar of strength and resilience. Her dedication and support not only bolstered her family but also inspired countless others in the Naga homeland to uphold the values of unity, perseverance, and dignity, it stated.
The Federation, remembering with profound respect, her enduring contributions to the collective journey of the Naga people said her sacrifices, both seen and unseen, in the pursuit of our shared aspirations for justice and self-determination, will remain etched in the hearts of the Naga community.
In this time of profound grief, the NSF extended heartfelt condolences to Ningkhan Anthony Shimray, their family, and loved ones, offering prayers for strength and solace to cope with the irreplaceable loss.
The All Naga Students’ Association, Manipur (ANSAM) has expressed sadness over the sudden demise of Chonthingla Shimray, Kilonser of NSCN (IM) and wife of General Ningkhan Shimray, the chief of the Naga army (NSCN-IM), on January 7 at Referral Hospital, Dimapur.
The ANSAM said Chonthingla Shimray was a visionary leader, a charismatic and dedicated woman who tirelessly served the nation. "Her instrumental role in building a unified Naga nation will be etched in our memories forever," the ANSAM said in a condolence message.
In her untimely passing, the Naga nation has lost a brave mother and national leader who stood strong by her principle and committed herself to the Naga people’s cause, it also stated.
Also issuing a message in this regard, the Maring Students Union (MSU) expressed its "deepest condolences to General Anthony Ningkhan Shimray, MC, VC, Longvibu of the Naga Army and his family on the untimely demise of his beloved spouse, Enoli Chonthingla Shimray, Kilonser, WTR, GPRN on January 7, 2025."
The MSU said Chonthingla Shimray was an extraordinary woman whose unwavering dedication to the Naga cause will be remembered with great reverence.
