Newly appointed All India Congress Committee (AICC) Incharge of Nagaland and Member of Parliament from Odisha, Saptagiri Sankar Ulaka has said that the Congress party is making its preparation to make a victorious comeback in 2028 both at the centre and the state.
He was addressing a press conference at Congress Bhavan, Kohima while meeting office bearers of Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee on March 5.
Ulaka informed that there has been a reshuffle in the Congress party leadership, keeping in mind the approaching general assembly election and said that with his appointment to the new position to ensure that the party leaves no stone unturned so that in 2028, they can form the government in Nagaland.
The state incharge reiterated how the people of Nagaland have given its thumping majority to the Congress MP, S Supongmeren and gave him victory by defeating all odds.
This love and affection, he said is embraced and remembered by the Congress party.
We firmly believe that because of the mis-governance of the NDPP and BJP government and the step motherly treatment of the government of India, it is high time that there should be a change in Nagaland, Ulaka asserted.
After the new assignment, the Congress leader said the leader along with working presidents will meet all the different working committee in Nagaland, undertake district tour and try and ensure that the committees from state, district, mandal, blocks are formed in a time bound manner and completed in the next 3 months.
“We also want to start identifying our potential candidates who can contest for the next election. We are very confident given the positive mood of the people and time has come for the Congress to step up,” he pointed out.
Ulaka said people of Nagaland deserve better government, deserve corruption free governance, deserve better solutions to their problems from the central government and therefore expect a regime change in 2029.
“As a party or organization, what things need to done, we will do it right away and in a proper way and we are looking forward to it,” Ulaka said.
He said the introductory meeting has been initiated to understand the people, to built and know the narrative of the people on what is happening on the ground and move ahead and forward.
“We are doing our homework to ensure that when the time comes, we are ready to take the step to form the government at the centre and state,” the Congress leader said and further added that it is not the political issues alone but are talking about the condition of the roads, education system, inflation, unemployment rate, corruption, atrocities against women, false promises.
“They have looted the state enough and it is high time,” Ulaka criticized.
On behalf of NPCC, Supongmeren Jamir expressed hope that the new incharge will help in bringing change and assured that the party continue to work for the common people and are delivered due justice.
