Nagaland State govt insensitive to demands made by Ao Senden, says Ao student bodies
DIMAPUR, JUNE 8 (MExN): Student bodies from the respective six ranges of Mokokchung district have expressed displeasure at the Nagaland state government for remaining insensitive on the Ao Senden demand for immediate construction of foothill road from Tizit to Niuland, “in order to safe its own people from further humiliation and harassment at the hands of unscrupulous neighbors in Assam side.”
A press note stated, “In fact, when the situation demands for immediate construction of just a motorable road as a first phase from Tizit to Niuland, Dimapur, the talk of the State government for construction of four lane foothill road upto Peren district at this juncture is misleading and moonshine talk of the state government to divert the attention of the people.”
In this regard, the student bodies expressed hope that the State government would immediately start construction work for the foot hill road, at least from Tizit to Niuland as a contingency measure without any further delay.
“It is our sincere request that the state government make foothill road motorable road now and four-lane later”, it stated.
The press note pointed out that the people of Mokokchung and Longleng districts in particular are “sacrificing their comfort, lives, normal cost of living and commercial activities.” It added that the people are experiencing shortage of essential commodities and price hikes in every item of basic needs in the market.
It stated that under the current situation of the border areas in Mokokchung district, the hike in NST bus fare has added to the misery of common people. It added, “That explains itself the level of sensitivity of our own state government towards the plight of the suffering people in the affected areas.”
The note expressed the hope of the students’ community in the trouble torn areas that the state government would provide more NST buses at a subsidized fare and make available all the essential items for the people living in the border areas.
However, it went on to say that all the visits made by state officials and legislators “turned out to be just eyewash so far, without delivering any hope and help for the suffering people”. As such, the press note requested the Chief Minister of Nagaland to visit the areas in question “to see for himself the pathetic plight of the people and deliver immediate solution to the problems experienced by his own people”.
The press note was issued by the student bodies from six ranges in Mokokchung district. It was appended by S. Yanger Tzudir, President, Changkikong Kaketshir Mongdang; Rongsenmongba Aier, President, Japukong Kaketshir Mongdang; Taliyanger Jamir, President, Langpangkong Kaketshir Mongdang; N.
