DIMAPUR, OCTOBER 18 (MExN): The Changsang Range Students’ Union (CRSU) has submitted a representation to the Principal Director of School Education, Nagaland, seeking disciplinary action against a government teacher allegedly absent from duty for the entire 2025 academic session.
In the representation addressed to the Principal Director, the union alleged that a Primary Teacher posted at GPS Nyinyem under Tuensang district, had failed to report for duty throughout the academic year, even as the school prepares for final examinations.
The CRSU stated that the matter had earlier been brought to the attention of the Senior Sub-Divisional Education Officer (Sr. SDEO), Tuensang, following which an explanation call was issued on August 22, 2025. The teacher subsequently signed an undertaking on September 10, 2025, but allegedly continued to remain absent from duty.
“The issue appears to have been handled casually between the concerned office and the teacher without seriousness, as she has not reported to the school till date,” the union said, adding that such negligence was detrimental to the academic interests of students in a remote village like Nyinyem.
The CRSU urged the department to take immediate action against the absentee teacher as per government service rules and to sanction a replacement before the end of October 2025.
