Dimapur, September 28 (MExN): The Dimapur Ao Youth Organisation (DAYO) and Zeliangrong Mipui Organisation (N) have strongly condemned the alleged death threat and derogatory remarks issued against Dr Rosemary Dzuvichu, a professor, social activist, and Advisor to the Naga Mother’s Association.
Denouncing the incident as a “shocking and irresponsible act,” DAYO said, “Such a blatant threat to the life and dignity of a woman, a mother, grandmother, and a noted academician is intolerable in a civilized society.”
It called upon “the concerned law enforcement authorities to thoroughly investigate the intent behind this threat and to ensure that the law takes its full course without yielding to any pressures.”
The organisation stressed that “any anti-social elements do not carry the identity of any tribe or community. Wrongdoers should be isolated, and no society should shield them from accountability and punishment.”
It further cautioned Ao youth and Naga youths to be “responsible and judicious in the usage of social media, given its social sensitivity as well as the existence of stringent cyber laws.” DAYO extended “complete solidarity and support to Rosemary and her family during this difficult time” and lauded “the prompt arrest of the accused by the Dimapur police.”
Meanwhile, the ZMON stated that “such incitement to violence must be eradicated and not be allowed to grow and exist in a civilized society” and regretted that such unacceptable heinous elements still prevail.
To this end, it called upon all right-minded citizens who stand for the rights and respect the dignity of women to come forward and condemn such inhuman acts.
Both DAYO and ZMON urged law enforcement authorities, the State Government, and the judiciary to take the case seriously, ensure the culprit receives appropriate punishment under the law, and deliver exemplary judgement to serve as a deterrent against similar incidents.
