DC visits landslide area at Chungtia

Mokokchung, September 27 (DIPR): The people of Chungtia village today took out mass social work at one of the perennial landslide areas on Mokokchung-Mariani Border Road occurred near their village, about 15 km from Mokokchung town to ensure that vehicular movement on this road is not disrupted. Even though the Border Road Organization had put one land excavator  into service to clear the road, yet normal vehicular traffic is frequently disrupted in view of the heavy landslide and sinking. More than 100 villagers, led by Village Council members were at work throughout the day.
Deputy Commissioner, Mokokchung, Lithrongla G. Chishi rushed to the spot to see herself the villagers at work. The DC provided drinking water to the workers and handed over two sheets of plastic tarpaulin and 20 shovels to the villagers.
Interacting with the villagers on the spot, Lithrongla expressed deep gratitude to the villagers for their free service and insisted that others should follow the example set by the people of Chungtia for public welfare.  The villagers also thanked the Deputy Commissioner for her special concerned towards them.
The single lane road between Mokokchung-Mariani is maintained by Border Road Organization and it is one of the life lines not only for Mokokchung district but for three districts of Tuensang, Longleng and Zunheboto.
