Dimapur, October 17, (MExN): The Chief Minister of Nagaland presently on an official tour abroad stated that he is deeply saddened to learn of the sad demise of Ghutoshe Yepthomi, former Minister , who died at Oking hospital at Kohima on October 16 morning.
A condolence note recieved here stated that the chief minister had observed late Ghutoshe Yepthomi as a student leader had held various positions of importance in the organization and was actively involved in many various welfare activities of particularly the Sumi Students’ community.
The note stated that Ghutoshe Yepthomi began his career as a teacher, but his sense of deep concern for the welfare of the people made him join politics and had contested the election in 1974 to the Nagaland Legislative Assembly and though he lost in his first attempt in elections, he was elected in 1977 and subsequently in 1982 and 1987 too.
It was further mentioned in the note that during his political career he served in various positions as chairman of Nagaland Khadi & Village Industries Board, minister of State Sports & Physical Education and Youth Welfare and later as cabinet minister for Health and Family Welfare. He had made many contributions for the Naga people as a whole and lamented that his passing away is a great loss to the people of Nagaland in general and for the Sumis in particular.
The CM in the condolence note stated that his wife joins him in conveying heartfelt condolences to the members of the bereaved family and invoked the almighty to grant solace and courage to withstand this irreparable loss and also prayed for the eternal peace to the departed soul.
In a separate note, the minister for Road & Bridges, Gaito Aye has mourned the demise of former minister Ghutoshe Yepthomi. The minister in a press note stated that late Ghutoshe was not only a veteran politician but a sincere and respected leader who tirelessly worked for the “down trodden”.
“His death is not only loss to our Sumi Community but to the Nagas in general. The vacuum caused by his dead will be hard to fill. At this moment of agony, I and my family share the grief with the bereaved family. May his soul rest in peace,” stated the minster in a condolence note.
