Launches spinal camp, aid for patients

DIMAPUR, May 11 (MExN): District Governor of RI District 3240, Rtn Dr Kameswar Singh Elangbam, made his official visit to the Rotary Club of Dimapur at the Rotary Centre on Sunday, emphasising Rotary’s evolving relevance and the need to involve youth in community service.

The visit also witnessed the launch of multiple community service initiatives, including a spinal medical camp that offered free consultations and preliminary diagnosis to patients with backbone ailments. A sewing machine was donated to a needy woman to help her attain livelihood security, while financial assistance was provided to a cancer patient for ongoing treatment.

Club president Rtn Pankaj Modi welcomed the District Governor and reaffirmed the club’s commitment to service. Rtn Vivek Jain presented the secretarial report, highlighting key projects undertaken during the Rotary year 2025-26.

Addressing the gathering, Dr Kameswar Singh underscored Rotary’s seven areas of focus and their role in uplifting the needy. He called for stronger engagement of youth to expand Rotary’s impact.

Veteran Dr D R Sharma was honoured with a ‘Service Above Self’ award for his lifelong contributions to society in Dimapur. President-elect Rtn Pradeep Goel proposed the vote of thanks.
