Dimapur, August 18 (MExN): The Eastern Naga Federation says it neither supports nor opposes the decision of the Nagaland government for the “special recruitment drive” for 10 Extra Assistant Commissioners considering “the ENSF” had never asked for any. The ENSF issued a statement today opining on the yet another-controversial decision of the government.
“The federation is of the stand that it neither opposes nor favors the decision of the state government for this special recruitment drive for 10 EACs posts as ENSF had never asked or requested the state government for such recruitment drive,” the ENSF said, through its vice president Likhumse Sangtam and general secretary Changsang Soted.
The NESF noted opinions from sections of the Naga society accusing the state government of giving too much importance and privileges to, what the ENSF called, “eastern Nagas.” The ENSF said that the government’s employment census has not taken the “population ration in percentage” but focused on “employment ratio in percentage” therefore assuming it to be a ‘random exercise.’ According to what the ENSF claimed is the ‘actual employment statistical report prepared by the ENSF” the organization claimed the ‘employment census of the entire eastern Nagaland” is far below 10% of the state’s total. The ENSF claimed further that the ENSF’s data indicates the “real status of deprivation.”
“The mere employment census ration being published based on employment ratio in percentage neglecting the population ratio, picture out the anomalous study depicting an incorrect statics whereas in ground reality, study based on village-wise employment casnus totally speaks different pictures and therefore the published random employment statistics is discouraged and unacceptable to the federation,” the ENSF said.
The ENSF expressed ‘dismay’ at statements issued by the chief secretary of Nagaland on August 17 pertaining to the special recruitment drive for 10 EACs. “Without analyzing the facts”, the ENSF claimed, the chief secretary quoted “as if the whole 10 EACs were being allotted to the six tribes of eastern Nagaland when the other four less represented tribes of the state has also been allotted one EAC posts each,” the organization said.
The organization asserted that the recruitment drive has nothing to do with the Eastern Nagas People’s Organization’s (ENPO) demand for “separate statehood”. In fact the ENSF said it believes that “this is directly related to the non-implementation of reservation policy accurately in the past 3-4 decades in all the government departments of the state and continuous denial of justice to the eastern Nagas in the employment sectors of the state government.”
