Dimapur Dibuia Students’ Union marks 50 glorious years

Dimapur, October 5 (MExN): The Dimapur Dibuia Students’ Union (DDSU) commemorated its Golden Jubilee (1975-2025) in Dimapur on October 2. 

The guest speaker of the occasion was Bendanglila (NCS) Joint Secretary of Nagaland State Government. In her address on the theme of ‘Holistic Growth,’ Bendanglila laid emphasis on the significance of balanced development across physical, mental, and emotional dimensions. She stressed that cultivating strong moral values, including honesty, integrity, and love, is the bedrock of a fulfilling and meaningful life. She also highlighted the importance of continuous learning, building confidence, and developing a strong work ethic to contribute to a productive community.

Imliyanger Tzudir (IFS Retired) delivered an exhortation, drawing inspiration from 1 Corinthians 13:11, urging students to transition from childish behavior and embrace intellectual maturity, actively contributing their skills and knowledge for the betterment of society. He challenged them to recognize their potential to make a difference and to strive for greater achievements, both personally and collectively.

Ao Students’ Union Dimapur (ASUD) President, Imnatemsu Pongen acknowledged the role of the DDSU as an integral and supportive unit of the ASUD. He said that the DDSU has been a strong contributor to the ASUD's success in various social and cultural initiatives.

Speaking on the occasion, Afong Walling, President of Dimapur Dibuia Senso Telongjem, encouraged the younger generation to emulate the dedication and perseverance of their elders, who, in the nascent years of DDSU, strived for education and success.

Dibuia Students’ Union President, Ayudi Longkumer acknowledged the academic track record of students from the village throughout the union's history, noting the numerous achievements in HSLC, HSSLC, and university examinations. He declared the DSU and DDSU’s commitment to promoting education in the years to come.

On account of the golden jubilee, the DDSU further pledged to take up two projects for the benefit of the village. Jubilee Resolution Committee Convenor T Toshi Aier said that the pledge includes an initiative to establish a park at the Longrapenlichen Tourist Centre Project in Dibuia focusing on the village’s biodiversity, especially the preservation of wild fruits and wild flowers, unique to the area. 
The other initiative related to educational and career development. To empower its students, the DDSU will conduct educational, career guidance, and counseling seminars every two years.

Furthermore, it will provide financial assistance to those aspiring to appear in competitive exams like the NSSB, NPSC, UPSC and SSC.  

The event was marked by a welcome address by President Imlikala Ao, a special prayer by Dimapur Dibuia Senso Telongjem Treasurer Chubawati Aier, and invocation by Rev Dr Mar Pongen, Associate Professor, Discipleship Bible College, Dimapur. 

A vote of thanks was delivered by DDSU Treasurer Lanupokyim Longkumer, and a report of the Jubilee Planning Committee was delivered by Convenor Oyimpong Longchar. Longchar lauded all the units under Dimapur Dibuia Senso Telongjem and all the members of the Jubilee Planning Committee for their tireless support and selfless sacrifice in bringing this celebration to a successful end.
