The department asserted that as per the statement of the complainant and eye-witness account, police investigating the case were  informed that on October 5 at around 3:30 pm, two motor cycle  borne riders, later identified as accused ‘Kakheto Aye’ and ‘Pukhavi Achumi’, travelling at a high speed, hit a brick lying on the roadside thereby losing control of the vehicle and fell down on the road in front of the auto (piaggio) goods carrier of the victim, proceeding to supermarket with some second hand goods. The motor cycle riders sustained minor injuries and the motorcycle failed to kick start. It was stated in the press note that while the goods were being unloaded at supermarket, the two threatened the victim of dire consequences and forced him to load the motor cycle in his auto to a workshop to repair. On the way the two made the victim pay the bill of the medicines as well as some cigarettes. Thereafter, the two took the victim to 3rd mile, Chekiye Market area from where they called Rovito Assumi and later took the victim and his uncle to the house of one  Ghunashe Achumi and one David Achumi at Chekiye village where Hevito Achumi was also present. There they made the plan to demand ransom money for the safe release of the victim and while they were executing the plan, they were arrested by the police.
As admitted by the abductors and as witnessed by Qhushevi Awomi in the article, the victim was physically assaulted by the abductors, forcing him to call his family and friends for arranging the ransom money in exchange for his release.
