Diphu gets Rajdhani Express stoppage from July 17

MALIGAON, JULY 18 (MExN): The Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) has introduced a stoppage of the Dibrugarh–New Delhi–Dibrugarh Rajdhani Express (train numbers 12424/12423) at Diphu railway station in Assam’s Karbi Anglong district from July 17.

The move follows public demand for improved railway connectivity for the people of Diphu and adjoining hill areas, NFR said in a release on Friday.

An official ceremony to mark the occasion was held at Diphu station on Thursday in the presence of Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council Chief Executive Member Dr Tuliram Ronghang, Lok Sabha MP Amarsing Tisso and senior railway officials. Both the up and down Rajdhani Express trains halted for two minutes at the station.

The Dibrugarh–New Delhi Rajdhani Express runs daily, covering around 2,400 km in approximately 37 hours. The inclusion of Diphu as a stoppage is expected to benefit residents of Diphu, Karbi Anglong and adjoining regions by providing direct rail connectivity to the national capital.

NFR said the step is part of its efforts to improve rail accessibility across the Northeast and bring premier train services closer to underserved areas.
