Kohima, June 22 (MExN): The Department of Information and Public Relations (DIPR), Kohima on Monday commenced a three-day photography and videography training programme for its interns at the Directorate conference hall, aimed at equipping students with practical skills in visual storytelling and digital media production.
The training programme, which will continue till June 24, has been designed to provide interns with hands-on exposure to the professional aspects of photography and videography in recognition of the growing importance of vocational and skill-based education.
According to a department, the intensive and interactive programme combines theoretical learning with practical exercises, enabling participants to gain firsthand experience in camera handling, visual composition, image and video capture, and media documentation.
The training covers various aspects of photography and videography, including camera operations, framing and composition, lighting techniques, photo and video documentation, visual storytelling, editing basics, and best practices in media production.
Through demonstrations, field-oriented exercises and interactive discussions, participants are expected to enhance both their technical and creative skills.
A total of 16 interns representing various universities and educational institutions from across Nagaland, along with a few participants from outside the state, are currently undertaking internships with the department.
The programme is intended to provide students with practical exposure and a better understanding of the role of visual communication in disseminating public information.
The resource persons comprise the department's experienced and professionally trained photographers and videographers, who bring extensive field experience and technical expertise to the sessions.
Their guidance is expected to help the interns understand professional standards in the field and develop competencies that would be beneficial for their future academic and professional pursuits.
The department said such initiatives form part of its efforts to support youth development by creating meaningful learning opportunities and promoting skill enhancement in emerging areas of communication and media.
