‘Disinformation undermines spirit of dialogue,’ says NJCF

Dimapur, May 8 (MExN): The Nagaland Joint Christian Forum (NJCF) has refuted a social media news flash as “totally false” that claimed a participant walked out of a joint meeting of Kuki and Tangkhul Naga communities convened by the forum on May 4 in Kohima.

Issuing a joint statement, NJCF President Rev Dr N Paphino, Vice President Rev Dr Vevo Phesao, and Church Coordinator and Relation Rev Dr Hotokhu P Zhimomi clarified that “at no point did Sword Vashum walk out of the meeting, as alleged in the circulated news.”

The meeting was convened on the invitation of NJCF and was well attended by church and civil leaders from both communities. All participants from both communities, together with the NJCF, stand as witnesses to the truth, the statement said.

The forum asserted that such disinformation undermines the spirit of dialogue and reconciliation, and called upon all Kukis and Nagas to cease from all forms of violent confrontation and to give peace a chance.

“Peace is the only way forward,” NJCF affirmed, appealing for unity and understanding in Christ's name.
