Do not to share bullying incident video: DCPU Chümoukedima

CHüMOUKEDIMA, June 2 (MExN): The District Child Protection Unit (DCPU), Chümoukedima, has issued a public appeal urging citizens to refrain from sharing or distributing a viral video involving a child being bullied.

In a press release issued Monday, District Child Protection Officer Nikito Zhimomi stated that while public concern is understandable, the circulation of such content violates the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act, 2015. “Recording and circulating videos of children in distress or involved in violence is a punishable offense and can attract legal consequences,” the statement read.

The DCPU said that sharing such material inflicts further harm on the child, breaches their right to privacy and dignity, and risks re-traumatizing the minor involved. “We request all citizens and media outlets to act responsibly and sensitively when it comes to matters involving children,” Zhimomi added. The department has called on the public to report such content directly to authorities rather than amplifying it through social media. Reports can be made by calling the Childline emergency helpline at 1098.
