
DIMAPUR, JULY 25 (MExN): The ongoing six month certificate course on Tourism and Hospitality Management is set to receive a formal launch with Pawan Singh Ghatowar, Minister of State with independent charge responsible for the Ministry for DONER having agreed to pay the only IIM in NER a visit on July 26, 2011.
The induction of the students for the course was held on July 18 last, in the presence of Prof AK Dutta Director IIM Shillong and Prof DK Agrawal Dean Academic.
Prof DK Agrawal who is also the Programme Chairman while expressing his happiness over the ability of Ghatowar to formally inaugurate the course said, “The students, all of whom are from the NER are deeply overwhelmed at the opportunity to experience such an occasion.”
It may be mentioned that the 25 participants have been selected through a rigorous selection process and more importantly are domiciles of their respective states. Assam has the highest number of participants with 11, Meghalaya with 7, Manipur with 3, and Arunachal Pradesh and Nagaland bagging 2 seats each in this one of a kind collaboration between IIM Shillong and the North Eastern Council which is the project sponsor.
