DIMAPUR, JULY 13 (MExN): Thieves broke into the office of the NBCC’s Nagaland Development Outreach located at Nyamo Lotha Road, Dimapur on the intervening night of July 12 and 13. The burglars stole two laptops, two internet data cards, one digital camera, one LPG cylinder and around Rs. 70, 000 in cash.
According to Dr. Hukashe Zhimomi, Director, NDO the police was informed and accordingly an FIR was lodged at the concerned police station. The thieves are believed to have entered the top-floor office of the NBCC complex, after breaking open the lock binding the sliding doors made of steel down at the basement.
Following the complaint, the police immediately responded. A forensics team also arrived combing the scene of crime for any evidence that the thieves might have left behind.
The same building also experienced a similar robbery on Friday night last. That time thieves stole computer gadgetry and laptops worth at around Rs. 2.3 lakh from one store - ‘Computer Mart’ – dealing with computer accessories and repairs. It is located in the ground floor of the NBCC Complex.
According to the proprietor of the shop, on Saturday morning when he came to open shop, he found the shutter locked in the proper places as usual. However, inside, he found his shop in disarray. The thieves instead of breaking open the locks had forced out the iron bars jamming the shutter to the concrete.
The police was informed and a complaint lodged. The police came, examined the scene and took a couple of snapshots from their mobile phone cameras and left. Later in the afternoon, another policeman came and took away two paper boxes believed to have been discarded by the thieves after taking what was inside. Before the theft, the boxes contained computer mouse.
The cartons were taken away for detecting fingerprints which the burglars might have left behind, the proprietor said. He was later informed no suspicious imprints were found.
