Dr Hovithal’s journey of leadership and service in TaFMA

The music and art fraternity of Nagaland including, politicians, bureaucrats and well wishers today accorded a befitting farewell to the Task Force for Music & Arts (TaFMA) Project Director, Dr Hovithal N Sothu at RCEMPA, Jotsoma near Kohima.

Having served TaFMA for seven years and six months since 2018, Dr Sothu, on his new assignment, will be rejoining Administrative Training Institute (ATI), Kohima.

S Keoshu Yimkhiung, Advisor, Youth Resources & Sports, Abu Metha, Advisor to Chief Minister of Nagaland, Anthony Ngullie, Commissioner & Secretary, Youth Resources & Sports, Theja Meru, chairman TaFMA, Alobo Naga, Kuvelu Tetseo and Khyochano TCK spoke at the programme and praised Dr. Sothu for his invaluable contribution and making a powerful impact to the music and art industry in Nagaland.

“I am leaving TaFMA with all your blessings. I am leaving with grateful heart,” Dr Sothu said while speaking at the farewell programme.

He thanked each and every individual for their good wishes and support during his journey as TaFMA project director.

Inato Assumi, Nise Meruno, Azi Rudy and Bright Lights presented specials songs in honour of Dr. Sothu.

The programme was chaired by Dr Tolto Metha, executive member of Rattle & Hum Music Society while Adu Keditsu, Manager (Electronics & Power) TaFMA proposed vote of thanks.

Dr Sothu is an educationist, trainer, motivational speaker, administrator and choral singer with four albums to his name. Committed to youth development and public service, he is widely admired for his integrity, leadership, and dedication to empowering young people through music, arts, and education, according to TaFMA.

He joined TaFMA, Government of Nagaland, as Project Director on November 30, 2018. During his tenure, he helped shape the organization’s vision and activities with sincerity and strong leadership, working under the guidance of the Chairman. Under his direction, TaFMA saw tremendous growth in promoting music and arts across Nagaland. He created opportunities for artists, musicians, creative professionals, and young talents, enabling them to pursue their passions with confidence and purpose. Key initiatives, events, workshops, and collaborations were successfully carried out, boosting Nagaland’s music and arts industry nationally and internationally.

Beyond administration, Dr Sothu served as a mentor and motivator to many in the creative community. His calm demeanor, hard work, and genuine concern for artistes left a lasting impact on the organization and individuals associated with TaFMA. A recipient of the Governor’s Gold Medal, he continues to inspire an inclusive, empowered, and culturally vibrant society.

As he concludes his tenure as Project Director, his contributions, service and leadership will be remembered with deep respect and gratitude, according to TaFMA.
