East Dimapur: No Permit, No Construction

Developers, homeowners given 15 days to obtain construction clearance

DIMAPUR, May 12 (MExN): The East Dimapur Town Council (EDTC) has issued a directive mandating that all building construction activities within its jurisdiction—whether residential or commercial—must obtain an official Construction Permit before commencement.

In a press release, the EDTC warned that no construction work will be permitted without prior approval from the council. “No building construction—whether residential or commercial—shall commence within the EDTC jurisdiction without first obtaining an official Construction Permit from the EDTC office,” it stated.

The directive comes under the council’s regulatory framework for urban planning and development, aimed at ensuring adherence to safety standards and maintaining orderly growth in the rapidly expanding township.

A 15-day grace period has been provided from the date of the notice for individuals and commercial developers to approach the EDTC office and obtain the necessary permits for any ongoing or upcoming construction projects.

The council cautioned that failure to comply will result in penalties, halting of construction activities, or legal action. “We urge all stakeholders to adhere to this notice and fulfill the necessary procedures to ensure full compliance with municipal laws and contribute to the safe and planned development of our town,” it added.

The EDTC advised those seeking further information or assistance to contact the council office during working hours.
