An egret that accidentally flew into the Zunheboto Media Office in Zunheboto town was rescued and later released back into its natural habitat by the Forest Department, officials said.
The bird entered the media office on the evening of June 19 while members of the Zunheboto Media team were engaged in filing news reports.
The egret was spotted and safely caught by Lomito H Assumi. The media team subsequently informed the Forest Department and ensured the bird's safety overnight before handing it over to forest officials on June 20 for assessment and care.

Speaking to reporters, Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) Zunheboto Obed Bohovi Swu said the bird was found to be in good health following examination.
"Since it was fit and healthy, we released it at the Langki River in the Ghosü Wildlife Bird Sanctuary at Ghukiye village under Zunheboto district," Swu said.

Forest officials appreciated the prompt action taken by the Zunheboto Media team in reporting the incident and ensuring the bird's safe handover.
They noted that public cooperation plays an important role in wildlife conservation and the protection of birds and animals that may stray into human settlements.
