EKU, NSCN- K (YA) mourn Mon landslide tragedy

Dimapur, July 26 (MExN): The Eastern Konyak Union (EKU), Myanmar, and the Konyak Region of NSCN-K (Yung Aung) have expressed condolences to the families of those who lost their lives in the recent landslide in Nagaland's Mon district.

In separate statements, both organisations said their messages were delayed because of prolonged communication and internet disruptions in their region, but maintained that their thoughts and prayers had remained with the bereaved families since the tragedy.

The Eastern Konyak Union, led by its president P M Aman, expressed solidarity with the affected families and the wider Konyak community, saying the tragedy had claimed precious lives and left the community united in grief.

The union also appreciated the efforts of the Konyak Union, Mon headquarters, for coordinating the search and recovery operation, describing its work as an example of the unity, compassion and brotherhood of the Konyak people.

It prayed for strength and comfort for the bereaved families and for eternal peace for those who died in the tragedy.

In a separate statement, the Konyak Region of NSCN/GPRN-K (YA), through its vice chairman M Tolong, also conveyed condolences to the bereaved families and the Konyak community.

The organisation expressed appreciation to rescue personnel, volunteers and local residents involved in search, relief and rehabilitation efforts, praising their courage, compassion and selfless service. 

It prayed for eternal peace for the deceased, strength for the bereaved families, speedy recovery of those injured and protection for all those engaged in rescue and relief operations.
