
GANGTOK, MARCH 16 (Agencies): A programme on empowering educators to innovate initiative by Sir CV Raman chair for Science Education School of Science was launched on 15th March at HRDD Conference hall jointly by Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) in collaboration with Human Resource Development Department, Government of Sikkim and INTEL.
The program was chaired by Minister, HRDD Mr. NK Pradhan as the chief guest along with secretary (HRDD) Mr. R Telang, professors of IGNOU and Director School education (HRDD) Mr. CS Rao.
Addressing the gathering Minister (HRDD) Mr. NK Pradhan said that the State Government and HRDD is trying to provide best education to the children in the state and many students across the state will be benefited from this programme as this program mainly focuses on development and better understanding of the subjects like Science and Mathematics which are rarely taken by our students and as a result there are lesser number of teachers in these subjects.
State Government is trying to change the education system in the State and is taking every possible measure actively for last few years in providing quality education. HRDD minister mentioned that the government and the department is focusing on providing quality education system in the state and is also providing infrastructure to mitigate the problem.
Sikkim is one of the states across the nation where teachers are highest paid in terms of salary hence the teachers needs to be performing their duties dedicatedly and sincerely to impart quality education. Newly launched programme is very important and this programme will be a great help to the state and the students at large.
Mr. Pradhan during the launching program even appealed to all the teachers across the state to be dedicated towards their duty other wise student will not be provided with quality education and added that until and unless teachers dedicate themselves wholeheartedly in their duty student cannot progress in the education sector. Mr. Telang said that empowering teachers is important as time is changing along with the education pattern and new system being enforced. He mentioned that IGNOU is a famous organization in education sector and this programme is important for us.
