Energy run to mark renewal energy day

Kohima, AUGUST 19 (MExN): The Rajiv Gandhi Akshay Urja Diwas- Renewable Energy Day will take place on August 20 at The Heritage, Old DC Bungalow, Kohima.
The day is celebrated on August 20 in the country in commemoration of the birth anniversary of the then Prime Minister of India Lt. Rajiv Gandhi. The main objective of this event is to create awareness and sensitize the masses on the importance of renewable energy.
This year, the state’s department of new & renewable energy along with the rest of the country will be celebrating the day by way of staging a rally on the theme “Energy Run” which will commence from Kohima Local Ground to The Heritage Complex. Students from 14 schools with then compete in quiz and singing competition at the venue in coordination with the Music Task Force.
State Planning Board (SPB) deputy chairman Neiba Kronu will be flagging off the rally for the energy run at 8:00 AM.
The closing function will start at 5:00 PM at The Heritage where M.C. Konyak, minister for forest & environment, ecology & excise will grace the occasion as the chief guest. Theja Meru, Kyochano Ngullie and Dr. Tolto Metha will be the panel of judges for the singing competition and Neingulie Nakhro will be the quiz master for the quiz competition.
The Directorate of New & Renewable Energy welcomes and invite well wishers to join the rally in the observation of the day.
