Dimapur, August 10 (MExN): Calling the response of the department of School Education and the government as “lackadaisical” the Eastern Naga Students’ Federation (ENSF) today said to continue with its ongoing agitation as planned.
The ENSF issued a note today reiterating that the 2nd phase of its agitation will commence from August 11 and till the 12th by ‘locking, picketing, closing down of all the DEOs/DISs/DMAs offices in both district HQs and sub-divisions within the eastern Nagaland Jurisdiction.”
The federation asked its units “to mentally prepare” for the 3rd phase of agitation which will commence from August 13, 2011.
The ENSF said that the chief secretary of Nagaland has e-mailed a letter assuring to discuss and address the five demands of ENSF, on the 12th of August as the state Cabinet is presently in Delhi. “But the office of ENSF is not satisfied with the letter of the chief secretary’s as it has failed to mention the fulfillment of the demands of the federation and also requesting the federation to call off agitation so as to maintain ‘good climate for meaningful discussion on the demand’ which seems like threat indirectly to ENSF.”
Another letter was received from the Directorate of School Education addressed to the ENSF, the note said. The letter also did not mention anything about the five demands ‘but rather focused only on the decision of the Cabinet meeting minutes’ of July 23 the ENSF stated. The ENSF note was appended by the organization’s vice president Likhumse Sangtam and general secretary Changsang Soted.
