Dimapur, August 9 (MExN): The Eastern Naga Students’ Federation (ENSF) will start phase-wise agitation starting from August 10, 2011 in all the four districts of Eastern Nagaland viz Tuensang, Mon, Kiphire and Longleng. This decision was resolved during the emergency presidential meeting held on August 8 at DUDA guest house Kohima.
A press note issued by Likhumse STM, vice-president and Changsang Soted, general secretary informed that the 1st phase of agitation will be held on August 10 in the form of silent dharna, in front of all the DEOs/DISs/DMA (SSA) offices and on August 11 to 12, picketing (close down) of all the DEOs/DISs/DMA (SSA) offices in all the district HQs and the sub-divisions within ENSF jurisdiction will be carried out. On August 13 to 15, the ENSF shall closely observe the reaction and response of the department and the state government in addressing its demands, and in failure the federation will be prompted to initiate further steps which will be in different forms with many ramifications. However, for information and adherence, the Federation reiterates that in due course of phase-wise agitation, the District Administration, Medical, Educational Institutes, Police, Para Military, Bank and Communication will be exempted from the preview of the agitation.
The note stated that this move is against ENSF resentment to the recent retention and regularization of both GTs and PTs under SSA Nagaland, in the backdrop of the Government and the Department’s failure to fulfill the five Points Charter of Demands submitted to the Director, School Education on July 26, 2011 to be addressed with the stipulated time of fifteen days which expires on August 9, 2011.
The ENSF also stated that the decision for phase wise agitation was taken after looking at the suppression and deprivation of the six tribes i.e. Konyak, Sangtam, Chang, Yimchunger, Phom and Khiamniungan of Eastern Nagaland by the department and the state government. The Federation directs all its federating units in carrying out the directives of the ENSF and also further requests all the sections of Naga society to bear with any inconveniences that may arise while addressing the grievances of the least privileged section of the state. Meanwhile, the Federation also once again directs all the HODs/incharges/officers/employees of all the departments posted within the Eastern Nagaland to be stationed in their respective place of posting, as ENSF will be inspecting all the departments, as stated in an earlier press note published on August 6.
