ESNWA queries FNR and Kitovi on reconciliation, ‘national government’

DIMAPUR, SEPTEMBER 4 (MExN): The Eastern Sumi Ex-National Workers Association (ESNWA) consisting of the “ex-undergrounds who did not surrender to the Government of India but voluntarily retired from the Naga National services after the split in NNC/FGN” have stated that even though they may be aged and retired, they still have concern for the political future of the Sumis in particular and Nagas as a whole. “We could not achieve the goal of sovereignty during our days, but we also did not surrender the rights of the Nagas. Because dis-unity, division and killings started among Naga families, we decided to stay away”, stated a press note issued by Major (Ex.) Khuniho Ayemi Naga Army and Captain (Ex.) Nitokhe Awomi Naga Army.
Stating that after “so much wastage of time, life and blood, the present National workers have decided to form one Naga National Government”. It however pointed out that they were “still confused who will be the President, Chairman or General Secretary or Army Chief of the new Government?” “What is the target or the kind of solution for the new government?  The new Government will collect only one tax or three different taxes? Because the public are still ordered to pay many taxes?” queried the ESNWA.
The press note stated that the “NSCN-IM has talked with India Government for more than ten (10) years, NNC/FGN has no official recognise with India government, Khehoi group is actually new group and NSCN-K is staying away”. “So can there be possible solution with India? The Naga national Government will start new talks with India or follow the IM talks, Can NNC/FGN also talk with India? These groups if become one National government then India Government will recognise or no?” the press note wanted to know.
Stating that the “word peace and unity sounds good to hear but if it cannot bring lasting solution”, the ESNWA pointed out that the “FNR also should think carefully before interfering in dirty politics”. It stated that Dr. Wati Aier was a “very respected reverend” and that he “must only speak of biblical gospels of peace and reconciliation and stay clean from factional politics or India politics”.
The press note also stated that they had learned that Kitovi Zhimomi has come to Zunheboto at present and as such asked him to tell us about political steps the Naga national government is going to take and his position in the new government. “Reconciliation and peace is very important but the Naga issue with India is also very important, he should therefore inform the Sumis, the advantage of national government and what settlement it is going to bring to the Sumis and Nagas”. It stated that they had also suffered “so much but we did not betray our people, so Kitovi Zhimomi and FNR also should not surrender to India”.
