Dimapur, August 17 (MExN): Troops of 24 Assam Rifles while conducting MVCP at Super Market area on August 17 and arrested two persons over possession of illegal tax collection receipt books/ demand notes. The accused were identified as ‘ss deputy kilonser’ Khavishe Sema (47) of NNC S/o Tohoi Sema resident of 3rd Mile Dimapur and Mathi Jimo (25) S/o Tohoi Jimo of Pukaho village Doyapur, Dimapur.
The Additional Superintendent of Police in a press note informed that the arrested were travelling in a black Maruti Alto bearing R/No NL-0502757 when they were stopped for checking.
The items that were seized from the duo were three tax collection books. Demand noted of NNC (Non-Accordist) Ministry if Chaplee Affairs to 13 Departmental heads of State of Nagaland – Director of Art & Culture, Engineer in Chief NPWD, Director of H&FW, Chief Engineer of Housing, Chief Engineer of Power, Director of School Education, Registrar of Nagaland Cooperative Societies, Director of Agticulture, Director of V&AH, Director of Horticulture, Director of Secriculture, Chieg Engineer of PHED, Director of Soil & Water Conservation , ranging from Rs 2,00,000 to Rs 8,00,000. A case was registered against the accused in this connection, the note stated.
In another related incident, a person was arrested on August 16 by the youth of Circuit House colony while he was collecting illegal tax in the name of NNC from shops located in the colony. The accused has was identified as Amit Dey (24) S/o Amar Krishna Dey and a resident of Babulal Kachari colony, Lhomthi village, Dimapur and was produced at East Police Station. Cash receipt bearing the name of NNC ministry of Chaplee Ministry was seized from the accused. A case of extortion was registered against the accused in this connection.
One arrested with arms
The troops of 24 Assam Rifles while conducting routine MVCP at Dhobinallah area on August 16 arrested one person, identified as Chun Thanlung aka Chung Gangmei (24) S/o Gaibi, reportedly a ‘ss office assistant of NSCN (IM)’ and resident of Nagagaon, Signal Basti, Dimapur for possession of illegal arms. One 7.65 mm pistol with three rounds of ammunition was recovered from his possession. A case was registered against the accused who was later forwarded to court for remand, the press note stated.
Contraband drugs seized
The Additional Superintendent of Police also stated that acting on a tip-off regarding smuggling of restricted drugs, Dimaputr Police personnel raided a medicine store located at Holy Cross junction on August 16 where a huge quantity of restricted drugs were recovered.
Accordingly, the owner of the illegal drugs has been identified as Rinku Debnath S/o Upendra Debnath from Rajnagar Laxmipur, Tripura and a resident of Sematila colony, Dimapur. The drugs recovered were seized from his possession. A case was registered under the Drugs and Cosmetics Act and relevant IPC against the accused.
The seized drugs were 1,15,200 capsules of Spoxyvon, 14,100 bottles of Leerex (cough syrup) and 800 bottles of R-Cof (cough syrup), the press note stated.
