Chümoukedima, January 17 (MExN): St Joseph University (SJU), Chümoukedima, through its Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), organised a three-day Faculty Development Programme (FDP) from January 15 to 17 at the SJU Auditorium, aimed at strengthening faculty competencies in Teaching and Learning, Artificial Intelligence, and Cyber Security.

The programme began with a session on Teaching and Learning, which focused on reflective and passionate teaching practices. The resource person, Dr T Soundara Pandian, Associate Professor, Modern Institute of Teacher Education, Kohima, highlighted the importance of learner-centric pedagogy, constructive teacher–student relationships, and innovative instructional design using the ADDIE framework. He encouraged faculty members to re-examine their teaching philosophies and adopt dynamic approaches to enhance meaningful learning.

The second day of the FDP was devoted to Artificial Intelligence, featuring an expert lecture by Dr Arambam Neelima, Assistant Professor, Department of Computer Science and Engineering, National Institute of Technology (NIT) Nagaland. She introduced participants to various AI tools for teaching and research, including Generative AI and Learning Analytics, and demonstrated how AI can support academic productivity. The session also underscored ethical considerations and the irreplaceable role of educators in the learning process.

The third and final day addressed Cyber Threats in Educational Institutions and Data Protection. The session was led by Asabo Newmai from the IC Cyber Cell, Office of the Commissioner of Police, Government of Nagaland. He highlighted cyber risks such as data breaches and phishing attacks, and emphasised preventive measures and best practices to ensure digital safety in educational institutions.

The organisers said the FDP was informative and enriching, reinforcing St Joseph University’s commitment to quality teaching, technological integration, and cyber security awareness in higher education.
