Dimapur, January 17 (MExN): The All Nagaland College Students’ Union (ANCSU) has issued a representation to the state’s Higher & Technical Education Department, demanding the immediate requisition of 129 sanctioned Assistant Professor posts to the Nagaland Public Service Commission (NPSC) for recruitment.
In the letter addressed to the Department Secretary, ANCSU President Kivika Yeptho and Vice-President Duve Tetse-O expressed “disappointment over the department's continued inaction,” despite all necessary administrative clearances being in place.
The union noted that it acknowledges the state government’s creation of the 129 Assistant Professor posts to address an acute faculty shortage in government colleges. However, despite the recommendation of Manpower Rationalization Committee (MRC) on August 11, 2025and the approval of the State Cabinet on August 30, 2025, it is a matter of concern that the requisition for the 129 Assistant Professor posts has not yet been forwarded to NPSC for initiation of recruitment process.
“The ANCSU questions the department concerned for the inability to requisition the 129 Assistant Professor posts to NPSC, as all the administrative clearance at the government level is completed,” the representation stated.
The student body has urged the department to forward the requisition to the NPSC “without further delay,” adding, “early actions in this regard will greatly contribute in strengthening the Higher Education and may not aggravate concerns among students’ community.”
The ANCSU has called for the “genuine issue” to be addressed promptly by the competent authority in the larger interest of students and aspirants.
