Farmers’ Mobilization, Plant Protection Campaign & Leadership Training prog held at Wokha

Dimapur, August 20 (MExN): The Kyong Baptist Ekhumkho Sanrhyutsu (KBES) organized one day “Farmers Mobilization, Plant Protection Campaign and Leadership Training Programme” on August 19 at Mission Centre, Vankhosung in collaboration with KVK, Wokha, ICAR for NEH Region, Nagaland Centre and ATMA, Wokha.
A press note stated that the programme was graced by Anthony, ADC, Wokha as the chief guest where he encouraged the participants to take full advantage of the programme and to disseminate the acquired knowledge in their own respective villages.
He stated that Agriculture is the main strength of the people of the district and appealed to the participants to take up Agriculture on a large scale which is a profitable venture. The objective of the programme was to educate the local leaders and progressive farmers in the areas of leadership development as well as to equipped them with the latest agricultural technology that are being generated by the scientist of the Indian Council of Agriculture Research, the note stated.
It also mentioned that in the technical session, the topics includes, Baptist Distinctive by Rev. Dr. E. Nrio Ezung, Executive Secretary, KBES; Church administration by Rev. N. Longshi Kithan, Pastor, Police Baptist Church, Wokha; Food Security by Dr. Mhonchan Shitiri, Co-ordinator ATMA; Technique of Fish Rearing by Mhomo and Bipenthung Khuvung SMS ATMA; Insect management on rice, citrus and banana by Tiatula Jamir Block Technology Manager, ATMA and Orchard Nursery Layout and Disease management on rice, citrus and banana by E. Lireni Kikon Prog. Ast. (PP)KVK, Wokha.
Altogether 150 participants took part. The participants comprise of church leaders, village council members and progressive farmers representing around 60 villages participated in the day long programme. Inputs such as Roban, Trichocard, Trichoderma and Bordeaux mixtures ingredients were distributed to all the participants.
