As part of the silver jubilee celebration of Societal Action through Voluntary Expression (SAVE), the society organized a football match between ‘Fathers’ and ‘Sons’ within the society members Saturday afternoon at DDSC Stadium.
Minister for Roads & Bridges, Y Vikheho Swu, a founding member of the society also took part in the football match. The match between fathers and sons evoked much enthusiasm from the audience comprising of family members of the society.
After the final whistle, the ‘Sons’ emerged champions by edging past the ‘Fathers’ 3-1.
Earlier, on December 29, 2014, SAVE celebrated its silver jubilee at Niathu Resort in the form of a get together-cum-picnic where family members of all the 17 SAVE members were present.
Formed way back in 1990, the society was initially called ‘Techno XI’, primarily a football club which also took part in the Royal Club football tournament in the early nineties.
Later, the club changed its nomenclature to Societal Action through Voluntary Expression (SAVE) and also enlarged its scope of activities. The visions and objectives of SAVE is to render help to the needy and to “create a congenial atmosphere for the growth of a balanced society, by emphasizing the importance of preserving, conserving, salvaging social values; to identify and undertake projects for public utility and to promote people’s participation in decision making.
